It is almost time to go to bed. It was rather a busy day. I got up early and called the Doctor's office trying to get an appointment for Jeri, because of her pain. She injured her upper body someway a few days ago and she needs to see the doctor but it will tomorrow instead of today. However, I drove to 45th South on Highland Dr. to see my foot doctor about the callus of got while we were in Floriday in the winter of 2007; he wants to try some things before he chisels away some of the bone in my foot, which is alright with me. It was rather cool when I left shortly after ten. I then came home and rested most of the day. Oh, I made another loaf of bread we go through a loof of home made bread and a couple of boughten loaves in 3 or 4 days. It keeps me off the streets and outa Jeri's hair. I think this is to only time I've seen willing to go see the doc. I'll let you know tomorrow how it went.

I just finished talking to Terry and he reminded me of a story he told a few years ago about a neighbor of his that made home-made bread, from scratch, for her young son to sell to the neighbors; she said a side effect of this endeavor was it kept her fingernails clean.lol So Katie that would be an incentive for you to make it from scratch instead of using the bread-maker.:) He reported that they only had a skiff of snow this morning but then they don't need the snow pack as much as we do. Well th-th-thats all for now.
It is now Monday morning, and we have about 3 inches of new snow on the landscape, and it is rather chilly. My sweetheart is sound asleep at the hour of ten AM and she is feeling better than she has in last week. As you all know she has had a pain in her upper body. She kinda snuggled up close to me last night and gave just enough room for me to wiggle a little, however, that was just fine with me. Everyone has gone their separate ways and the two of us are here and are as snug as a bug in a rug. This is for Katie. Yesterday when I went to the Barrs he was making a batch of bread and he wasn't using a bread maker so there must be a very small percent of people that still do that but I can't understand why.

Sunday, March 29, 2009

Well, it's Sunday and the wind blew like crazy most of last night. Jeri wasn't feeling very good; she did some damage to her back or front last week and she couldn't get any sleep so she stayed home hoping for some sleep but it didn't work. When the rest of got home she was just like she was when we left, so she talked to Patrice about the symptoms and Patrice told her what she thought it might be and after assuring Jeri it wouldn't have an effect on her clotting problem she gave her a Celebrex pill and then Jeri had a nap that lasted a couple of hours and her body seems to feel better than it did. While we were at church we acquired about 4 inches of snow and the temperatures have gone to the dark side of warm, however, it stopped right after church and it hasn't snowed anymore, yet. I went Home Teaching this afternoon to the Barrs family, which consists of David and Mary Ellen. I would guess they are in there 40s and pushing rather hard on the 50s. This the third time I have been, and it is kinda good to get back in the swing of things. Oh, by the way we were asked to speak in church on the 12th, which is Easter Sunday and we were asked to speak on the Lord's Holy Temple; meaning the body, which I thought was going to be tough but I think I'm going to like that subject, and Jeri has got her brain wrapped around some things that she likes, which isn't in conflict with mine. I guess two weeks will tell how it all comes out. It is now Sunday evening and it looks like more snow will be coming our way. The weather guys are saying it will be a messy commute tomorrow morning. Oh well, we need the water for this coming summer. That' all folks

Here is a order that can not be ignored. Do not make fun of a couple of words that may have been misspelled in the next comment as I forgot to use spell check.
This morning I'm listening to some great music that I recorded decades ago; right know it is Cool Water. They don't make music like that any more, which is not a good thing.

Yesterday was a very interesting day to say the very least. Mid-morning Jayci called to ascertain if Jeri and I could come to 7100 South and retrive her after she had surgery on her jaw to correct a problem with one of her teeth, and of course being two of those doting grandparents we were soon on our way, however, we had to clean a couple of inches of snow off of our windshield before we left. When we arrived at the dentist's office we discovered they were behind schedule, about an hour, so Jeri and I had a conferance and decided that Jeri would take our pickup and go to Jaycie's and I would wait until she was through with the agony and then I would take her home. Well, after 2 hours we were on the way to Woods Cross, and because of the anthsetic Jayci was as loopy as any can be. After Jayci was safely enconched in her car I drove her home. She slept all of the way home and as we intered her driveway her phone rang and she tried to talk to Dan but she was not making in sense so Lee, along with her mother was helping Jayci to amble into her house. After she was safely setteled on her couch I Walgreen's to get some meds for her; after I was informed that it would take 45 minutes I went home and made a loof of bread and then to Great Harvest Bakery and bought some bread for Lee. And of course I stopped at Walgreen's and picked-up the meds and then went to Jayci's and she was still asleep. Lee called later in the evening and she still wasn't making any sense. But that is just as it is with Jayci.lol Oh, by the way, the loaf of bread I made was excellent as it allways is.:)

Then in the evening we watched some basketball on TV but then, anyone who knows Jeri very well will not surprised at that happening.

Today it is not snowing but is rather chilly; in the very low 30s. I'm hoping that Spring will be here soon. If there is anything of good report I shall fill you in, and if you need any guidance don't be bashful and just ask.:)

As you can see the new picture, well the picture isn't new, it is just new on the blog. It was taken a few years ago; that is the reason we look so young.lol Lee came to see us today and stayed a couple of hours; remember what couple means in my dictionary. It has rained or snowed most of the day however, Jeri insisted on planting some plants in the areas that are for planting. I'm sure they will be really beautiful when they stick their little heads above the ground and strut their beauty around the neighborhood. Well, this will probably will be the last posting of this day. It has been really good talking to you.
Well, it's Wednesday already and it raining/snowing and it is only 9:37 in the morning; I bet it is going to be a bad day weatherwise, however we really need the moisture; we are only at 80% of what we need. The Boss is still reading the paper; if she would wake-up when I do she could have it all done by now.:) Believe it or not but these two old people are doing very well. Jeri spends a lot of time on Facebook but it took a while to convence her she could handle it. That's about it for this morning if there is anything that I think might be interesting I'll make another post later today. Oh, I went through the rest of our tapes and found some we haven't listened for many many years, and I am listening to one now. Talk to you later.

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

I don't know what has happened but now Temaire' is a contact as is Scott; I thought they would have had all of me they wanted. But keep them coming and I will try to keep my blog up dated. Well, the Boss is NOW ready to go.:)
Well, it is now Tuesday and Jeri is making sounds that we need to go to Target so I guess I shall have to obey.:) I got a comment that Barb Franklin is now a contact on Yahoo email. It will be really good to correspond with that family. Now it is our goal to make contact with Jerry. The weather is sunny this day but the breeze is rather chilly to say the least. Yesterday Jeri had me busy doing rug cleaning; it serves my right because I bought so much magic cleaning stuff when we were going to Yuma. It is really good stuff but I didn't think that the cleaning thing would continue into my dotage. Well this is all for now because the boss is about ready to go north to Centerville.

Church today was really good as was the weather this morning, however this afternoon it turned very chilly and it rained and tomorrow it is supposed to snow; can't warm weather come sooner than later? This evening my sweetheart and I were listening to some 'old' tapes we have and it was the music we listened to during our high school daze, which means it was really old but it gave me time to wander down memory lane and think of all of the good things that happened at that time; especially after Darrell was out of the picture.lol. Well, here is wishing y'all a great week. I know I will have a great one.

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

As you can tell I'm back. I must interject a new parameter to the therapy. shortly after the knee surgery I had to have my left ear cut off; during the surgery Dr. Hunter, who is a great plastic surgeon and a great human being, had a conference with Jeri and told her that he was having a problem saving my ear; the only way to save it was for him to remove all of the cancer that he could and then have radiation to remove what was left. He and Jeri decided that would be the best thing to do but of course I didn't have much to say about as he had already hit me with a dose of la la land. I went to Dr. Thomson, at the LDS hospital, who had married into a Delta family, who was a radiation expert, and indeed he is. I had to go radiation three times a week so we coordinated these sessions so we could go to them on our way to Murray for therapy. On the first day Dr. Thomson and a technician made a gizmo that fit my ear and only exposed the area that needed to be radiated. One the first session I was laid on one of those beds that all hospitals have, which are made of the hardest substance that is available. I asked the technician how long the session would take and she told me one minute and 13 seconds; not one second less or one second more. Now he is the rub to this event. I had to lay on my right side so they could get to the left ear, which meant I had to rest my left knee on top of my right knee; now you know I am very gentle so in a gentle way I made a comment to the tech that it hurt my knee so she quickly got a pillow to put between my knees, which was a very good thing. I did this regimen for the next five weeks. Oh, by the way, when I went back to Dr. Hunter I told him that if this radiation thing didn't work I wanted to at least save the lobe of the ear so I would have a place to put the diamond stud that my grand kids would buy for me.:) A month-or- two ago I went to see Dr. Thomson for a final exam and he said he could not see any evidence of cancer, which was a really great thing.
After I was through with the therapy, Jeri and I went to East Canyon for the summer. It was a very interesting summer. I had the maintenance crew bring the trailer to the spot we were going to start the summer in, which was spot that other owners don't like so we got to stay there for about 6 weeks and then we had to move. Dave WeWee; a member of the crew was very good to help me, if he hadn't helped me would have had to leave the resort, and others owners were really good to help also. I wore-out a electric hot pad during the summer and I got a lot of help putting up the satellite dish. We stayed at the resort until November sixth and then we moved into Mike and Patrice's. It was a remarkable summer to say the least. I finally had my last visit with Dr. Samuelson and he said I was doing very well and wanted to schedule a time for the right knee but I told him "no thanks."
Well, I'm back at the blog and I appreciate the comments that have been made. I have had many remarks about the 'knee thing' so will try to wrap it up soon. The therapy was really a pleasant thing; they first put some really hot mats on my knee and hips and that helped a lot and when I was through they 'iced me down' and I was ready to go home. I met several people that I knew of while I was doing therapy; Elder Hailes, Art Teece who was 92 and they gave him a birthday cake one day that I was there; of course it was his birthday. He was the guy who first brought professional baseball to SLC, and they were named the Bees. He also had other sports teams. I shared therapy with several other people who were doing better than I but there were those who wasn't doing as good as I. Of course my sweetheart was very kind and stayed with me for the hour-or-so I was there and Lee even took me a time-or-two. Well I've got to go for a while but I shall be back shortly.

Now the plot thickens. When I left the hospital 'they' gave me a copious supply of Oxycontin which worked very well but not necessarily the way I wanted. It did control the pain but caused a super case of constipation and suppression of appetite, which caused me to shed about 60 pounds of unnecessary weight. About a week into the agony I asked Jeri to get a gun and shoot me but looking back I'm glad she didn't take me up on the deal.:) I had two nazies' come to the house; every day for an hour to give me physical therapy, which was another trail but as it worked-out it was a good thing. After a couple of weeks I started going to their facility and doing the excercises there, which I liked much better; one reason was I only there three days a week. More to come later.

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

Well I think this might be a excellent time to share the year of 2008. In January I went to Dr. Samuelson to have him to take a look at my knees; he was really eager to get the job done. He showed me some X-rays of my knees and pronounced both of them needed to be replaced, however, I decided that I would do one and see how the worked. I decided that I would have it done in April after the snow was through kissing the ground; we made an appointment for April 21st. We now go to the month of March. Jeri and I left Salt Lake the first week of March and drove to Hamilton, Montana. During the four weeks we were there it snowed every night except three; now this gives you a hint of how my year went from there. As were were coming home, over Lost Trail Pass it was snowing and we were behind a snow plow all of the way to Wisdom and the road was snow packed all the way to Dilion and then it was clear sailing to Salt Lake City. I settled myself down and waited for the 21st of April. I had to be at the LDS Hospital at 6:00 AM. I was up and outa my bed about three-hours after the old knee was gone and I had a new one. That afternoon I was up and at'em mid-afternoon doing the exercises that would make it so I could walk again; that was when I decided the therapists' were a bunch of Nazis'. Two days later I was at Mike's and Patrice's place trying to put my life back together again.
Well, this is a first for this old guy. I suspect that I shall not do things right but give me enough time I'll have you logging on every day for an up date. If you have any suggestions feel free to make them but you have to be very kind!!
