Today was a great day! The Bishop, his wife, and his son, spoke in Sacrament Meeting and it was a wonderful meeting, and the rest of the meetings were good also. When we came home we did what is usually done after church and that is very little. Jeri had a nap and I have tried to do indexing but it is hard to find some files that are readable. The temps are high but not in the 100s so I won't complain too much. Oh, by the way, Mike wasn't feeling well this morning so he stayed home but Chris went to Sacrament Meeting and then he had to go home and rest his leg. Well, that about covers things for today.

Today was a lazy day for me; I just kinda sit around doing some indexing, playing a game or two and of course I fetched the paper this morning and the mail around noon. It was hot today so I stayed inside to stay cool, that is because I like being a 'cool guy'. I finished all of the Tennessee census they had for indexing so I had to go to some from Texas that are not in very good condition but I will get them finished as I can. The other Warners' that live in this house were not home much of the day so it has been rather quiet. Judd doesn't park in my spot very often and he didn't know I just went to the store for a very short time, so I didn't hurt him very much.:)

I was up a few minutes before six and had the water running on the west side of the house. While it was running for the next three hours I was working and playing on the computer; at nine I shut the water off and then hooked up the hose and washed all of those pesky leaves that fall from the city's trees off of the driveway, which takes a lot of time and I was drenched from the waist down and had to change some clothes and I parked my house slippers on the porch; yes I was wearing my house slippers. The water didn't hurt them like it would have my shoes. I then made a trip to Smith's for some viands so Jeri and I could eat breakfast. When I got back I discovered the Judd had taken my parking place, which is not a good thing and he and Mike had not moved the garbage cans to the curb and the crew was picking up today and a lot of people didn't have their garbage at the curb; I think they will come back tomorrow and pick up the ones they missed today but then I have been wrong a time or two in my life. I did fifty lines of indexing, which is 700 entries plus manipulating the forms around and when I pushed the button to send it to FamilySearch I punched the wrong icon and off it went into never-never land and I had to do it all over again. I bet I double check from now on. It is still really warm here in Zion, and speaking of Zion. I can't express my gratitude to those people who made the trek across the prairie all those years ago, and a lot of them were our ancestors; they really sacrificed so much for me so my, and your, life would be much better than theirs.

Thursday, July 23, 2009

Well, this day is almost over, however, I am going out and start the water on the lawns and water them for three hours; it has been really hot today. I did some more indexing I have done over 1600 lines with 14 entries on each line; am I not a good boy!:) Lee and Kearney came and stayed with us for a couple of hours and that was really good. Mike is coming home tonight and he stopped the mail delivery while he was gone; don't ask me why because I haven't figured it out myself. I have used up most of this day talking and typing, which makes the day go fairly fast, and I really do enjoy doing the indexing and maybe someone is using the info that I have helped supply. It is now just six pm so I can know turn on the water. I'll talk to you later.

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

I was up about six this morning, fetched the newspaper and read it as I consumed a bowl of granola. I then fixed Jeri a bowl of watermelon and two pieces of toast with peanut butter. After that was all done I did some more indexing; at this time tonight I have done over 1500 lines. It takes some time but I really enjoy doing it, even if some of the handwriting is not very good. Katie and Josh brought Chris a box of goodies that disappeared down stairs, which was a good thing for Chris; he has had a lot of visitors today and a few of them were females. The temps are in the mid-nineties but that beats the 100s.

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

Today started out about six-thirty; I got myself all cleaned up and was at the dermatologist several minutes before nine for a check-up on my left ear. I thought the cancer had come back and I didn't want it to progress into something that would cause me to lose my ear; I almost lost it last year. Dr. Rassmussen checked it and didn't think it was serious but he took a sample for a biopsy just to make sure. And then of course he hurt me considerable with the liquid nitrogen but he said everything was just pre-cancer stuff except maybe my ear. I then moseyed home and waited for the pain to subside, which it did after an hour or so. On my way home I stopped at the Corn Man's stand and bought some corn, which is really tasty and sweet; I guess that is why they call it sweet corn.:) I have done 100 indexing today; I set a goal for me to do 500 before the end of the month and I will meet that easily. The weather was in the 90s but never got to the 100s, which is great for me. As I am writing this I am watering the lawn and it needs to be turned off so I shall say adios amigo. Oh, by the way, I'll have the results of the biopsy results will take 7 to 10 days to get the results.

Monday, July 20, 2009

There was some activity today on my part, I made a trip to Costco and spent some money but less than if I had gone to another place. I bought a watermelon, some cookies, some bread; I'm not making any bread until it gets much cooler than it is now. I did a 100 indexing, which brings we up to over 1200, which keeps me busy.Christian had his right knee repaired today and he has to be on crutches for four weeks; I don't know if he has a lot of pain because he is down stairs and I'm not but I assume that he has felt better in his life. I watered the front lawn and the lawn on the north side of the house, which will last until Thursday morning. It was really warm today but didn't get to 100. Mike has gone to Las Vegas on business, at least that is what he says; he will be home Thursday night or Friday morning, sound like a boondoggle to me.:)

Sunday, July 19, 2009

I was up and at 'em by seven this morning and was ready for church by eight when Jeri got up. Sacrament Meeting was good, we had a returned missionary and a High Councilman as speakers. Sunday School was really good and I am not saying that because Mike was the teacher. And Priesthood meeting was really good; Bob Kime was the teacher and he is a fresh breath of air as a teacher for the High Priests. When we got home I exited from my 'Sunday going to church' and got into my regular garb. This afternoon Mike and Patrice had dinner and invited Jess's family to come and help celebrate Judd's birthday, he is 23 years old today, and Josh is 24 today. Needless to say, today was a good day for me and mine.

Saturday, July 18, 2009

I slept later this morning than I have for a long time; it was almost eight-thirty. I arose and checked the email for some great tome from some of my offspring but nothing today.:) I did get a call from Tiffiny about our meds; she is going to send us some today, it is great to have someone looking out for you. I washed the dishes this morning while others did yard work. Lee, Cliff and Kylee came to visit with us this afternoon for a while, it is always great to have company. They told us the the Dentons' are moving into their new home in Bountiful, and they showed Jeri how to use the laminating gizmo so Jeri can use it to show the Primary girls how to make bookmarks for their scriptures. I then did some more indexing; I have done over 1100 so far and will keep on doing it as long as the creek don't rise and the Good Lord is willing. It was rather warm to day; in the 100s, which is too hot for me.

Thursday, July 16, 2009

I hate it when I awaken before seven a.m. but I don't know what to do about it. I had to go to Smith's to buy some bread and oatmeal mush this morning so Jeri could have breakfast. After the incidentals were taken care of we started cleaning, about ten, and we were through about noon; it takes a couple of oldies a long time to do their work. This afternoon I went to Smith's and filled the gas tank on the pickup and paid $2.42 a gallon, which is much lower than it was a couple of months ago. While I was out getting gas I decided to go and buy a new sprinkler so I could water the strip of grass on the east side of the property, and it is working really good. I also have the water on the front lawn and the water on the west side of the house; I will water the north lawn about eight tonight. It was rather warm today; it got to 100 degree's and I am not partial to that high of a temperature but that is what you get in the summertime.

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

Now, today was a day of a lot of activity! I arose at my usual time and downloaded another Oklahoma census of 1920 and did some work on it. I put it aside so we could get Jeri's blood draw for her INR; it was 2.4, which is just the place Jeri likes it. We then went to SLC to visit Josh and he says he is doing well. While we were there he showed us a DVD that his doctor made of his eye surgery, which was down right fascinating and it is wonderful how skillful these doctors are, and he says he is recovering right nicely; he will be able to go back to work next Monday. We then went to the Higbee's and visited with Temaire' and her offspring and of course Lee was there; we had a really nice visit for a couple of hours-or-so. While we were there Lee suggested that we get busy and have Granddad Dearden sealed to Aunt Mattie, and I said that I don't care if she wants to but I don't want to have to explain that to my mom and grandfather. We then came home and I finished the census indexing; I think I have done over 900 now, and I really enjoy doing it instead of play computer games.

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

The most activity I had today was fixing breakfast for my sweetheart and doing my indexing for Family Search; I have done almost a total of 800 lines so far.

Monday, July 13, 2009

I have sorta slacked off on Saturday and Sunday so I'll try to catch up on the things that have occured. One of the good things that happened today was we had our 25th Great Grandchild; Rachel had a baby girl today and her name is Addisyn; mother and daughter seem to be doing well. Today I watered the parking area; I did some this morning and then I finished it this evening; it makes one grateful for the sprinkler system on the big lawns. We didn't have a sprinkler system in our lawn in Rose Park so I really enjoy watering the lawn from a chair on the porch. Sunday we attended church for all of the meetings; it was the first time in a month that we have done that. I didn't feel like sitting on the benches while I was in Montana and last Sunday Jeri wasn't feeling very well so we only stayed for Sacrament Meeting. Saturday Mike and Patrice came and visited with us for awhile and during the conversation she told Jeri that she thought the Jeri's 'short of breath' was getting acclimated to the altitude once again, which caused some calm to come into Jeri's life. It seems that everything is going well for us at this time.

Friday, July 10, 2009

I saw the most pretty sunset this evening that I have seen for a long time; it was enough to sooth the soul and gladden the heart. Lee came to see us this afternoon and stayed long enough to get us up to date on some of our offspring. I did another 50 lines of indexing; I surely hope someone is looking for this information that I have tried to decipher from the people that didn't pay attention to the lessons on handwriting.:) It must be obvious that I like doing this project. The following is for Katie Higbee; I use a bread machine, I don't think there are very many people that do all of it by hand anymore.

Thursday, July 9, 2009

I was up early again today; I had the lawn watered before seven-thirty and was to Great Harvest about eight, I was there before all of the trail bars were sold. When I arrived at home and Jeri had a taste she said she didn't like it very much, so it must not have been what she thought it was. I read the paper and then I down loaded another census from Virginia, and used up the next couple of hours doing another 50 lines of indexing; I have done 568 people so far. I was surprised when Jon and four of his friends from Montana showed up here; it looks like they are going to sleep on the basement floor; I think I would rather sleep on the lawn. It was a really good day for me. Oh, by the way, the Jehovah's Witness people came by and I told them I didn't want to waste their time as I was not interested, and then I made a loaf of bread, and this one turned out just like I wanted it to.:)

Wednesday, July 8, 2009

Another morning of getting up about seven. I started the water on the lawn and decided I would go get some Trail Bars at Great Harvest; when I got there, about nine, they were out of them so I will go about eight tomorrow morning.:) When I left Great Harvest I went to Lowes to get two bolts and some washers and nuts so I could mount the flag pole onto the awing post on the porch, after I spent the $1.25 for the hardware I came home and installed the flag holder on the porch and a great job I did even if I say so myself, however while enlarging the mounting hole on the flag holder I tried to drill a hole through my index finger on my left hand. It didn't do much damage to the finger but it bleed a lot compared to the damage, I think it must be the Plavix that caused the bleeding. It was a good thing I had the dishes washed before I damaged my finger. And of course I did another list of 50 lines of indexing. I will talk to who ever reads this blog, tomorrow.

Tuesday, July 7, 2009

My day started several minutes before seven this morning. I started the hose on the parking area and had that going for a couple of hours. After that was started I checked my email, which was rather boring and then I indexed another 50 lines from a census taken in 1920, there was a record of one guy who was 36 years old that had a 26 year old wife, now that is what I call robbing the cradle. Jeri and I went shopping this afternoon, and to our surprise we 'ran into Temaire' and her kids', as we were going in to Smith's. I have wondered why they came to Bountiful but then it is not any of my concern. While we were in Smiths Jeri bought a flag to put on our porch but it didn't have every thing I needed so back to the hardware store tomorrow morning. This evening I started the 'lawn watering process' again and after three hours I turned it off; I hope it got enough to drink. The weather is on the warm side but after all it is July.

Monday, July 6, 2009

Jeri says she feels much better today than the last couple of days, which is music to my ears. I have had very Little activity today except reading the newspaper and indexing 50 lines of information, which I really enjoy doing. The weather is rather warm today, in the mid to high eighties but that is to be expected in July.

Sunday, July 5, 2009

For the last three days I have not been very diligent in blogging so here goes.
Friday I asked Sister Herrin, she is the Grandmother of the twins that were conjoined and separated a few years ago, to come and inform me how to do this indexing thing. she showed me what I should do and was really helpful. Since that time I have done almost 200 names, I sure hope those people are happy that she helped me so much. Jeri says that I don't do much but sit at the computer but I think that is not so.:) Jeri has not been feeling very well the last few days; I don't think it is the flu, I surely hope it isn't. On the Fourth of July we didn't do much during the day but when dusk came around we pulled up a couple of chairs out on the lawn and sidewalk to witness the fireworks out on the golf course; for a while I thought they were the pits but after we were patient they had the 'grand finally' and that part was really good, and of course we had the locals doing their thing, which was rather lame but then that is what the law allows. Today we only went to Sacrament Meeting because Jeri wasn't feeling very good; I tried to talk her into staying home but she wanted to go the church seeing that it had been a few weeks since we had been. We didn't go in Montana because of my aching body, and that is the best excuse I could think of.:) Here is hoping for a more consistant effort on the blog.

Thursday, July 2, 2009

Today has kept me on my toes. I awoke about seven and arose for the day. I watered the lawn that is not cover by sprinklers and then I did an errand for Scott, and all of that consumed all morning and into the very early afternoon. It started raining shortly after I arrived home and has been doing so most of the day; I love the rain this time of year! It seems that most of the time is used up reading the newspaper and checking my email and watching some TV, and that isn't bad.

Wednesday, July 1, 2009

Today was somewhat more active than yesterday. This morning I arose at six a.m. and watered some of the lawn, which was calling for water. We left the house around eleven o'clock a.m. and Jeri had her INR checked; it was 3.2, which means she will have to do some tweaking her meds. On our way home we went to the corner where the corn-man is every summer and discovered we were too early for Utah corn but they had some Calif. corn but Jeri thought she wouldn't like it so they gave us two ears to try, well, when we tried it we discovered it was really good so I went back and bought a dozen ears. It was rather warm today, in the 90s for awhile but the AC is doing a good job keeping us cool, but then everyone knows that I am a cool guy all of the time.:)
The most activity I had yesterday was asking Christian to take their chairs out of the pickup, which he did rather quickly. I then made a loaf of bread, which wasn't a loaf that I liked to look at; it rose too much like the last one did. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I will try to rectify this problem before I make the next one. We then took the Higbee's there chairs and James quickly had them in the backyard; it is wonderful for an old guy like me to have grandchildren to do the hard work. We visited with the people on Catherine Street for a couple of hours and then we came back home and rested from our labors.:)
